Cell Growth
Cell Viability
Measurement of living cells using the Countess II Automated Cell Counter, a benchtop automated cell counting system.
This instrument enables accurate counting of:
- Live cells
- Dead cells
- Total cell number
The test is performed using trypan blue staining, a widely used method for distinguishing viable and non-viable cells.
Cell Growth Rate
The measurement of how rapidly cells increase in number over time. In general, cells demonstrate an exponential growth pattern during the proliferation phase.
Our laboratory monitors cell growth daily over a continuous 5-day period. Results are reported as:
- Daily cell counts
- Growth trend graphs
This provides a clear overview of cellular proliferation performance under defined culture conditions.
Population Doubling Time
Population Doubling Time (PDT) is the time required for a cell population to double from its initial number under specified culture conditions.
PDT is an important indicator used to evaluate the growth capacity of cells:
- A shorter PDT indicates faster cell proliferation
- A longer PDT may indicate slower growth or suboptimal culture conditions
This parameter is commonly used to assess cell quality, culture efficiency, and overall cellular performance.
