Lymphocyte
Lymphocyte are a type of white blood cell and play a crucial role in the immune system.
In healthy individuals, lymphocyte account for approximately 20–40% of total white blood cells.
Normal laboratory values for lymphocyte vary by age:
- Adults: 1,000 – 4,800 cells/µL
- Children: 3,000 – 9,500 cells/µL
Lymphocyte originate from the bone marrow and are classified into two main types:
1.1
B Cell
B cell are responsible for producing antibodies, which specifically bind to foreign targets (antigens), allowing other immune cells to recognize and destroy them efficiently.
1.2
T Cell
T cell play a key role in destroying virus-infected cells and cancer cells.
